Tire Scanning

The Anyline Tire Plugin is capable of scanning different information from the sidewall of tires, these include: Tire Identification Number (TIN/DOT), Tire Size Specifications (Tire Dimensions) and Commercial Tire ID.

Tire Scanners Overview

Tire Identification Number (TIN/DOT)

TINs can be used to identify the manufacturing location, tire size and manufacturer’s specifications, along with the week and year in which the tire was manufactured. For more details see Tire Identification Number (TIN/DOT).

Tire Size Specifications (Tire Dimensions)

The Tire Size Specifications provide information about certain properties of the tire, including vehicle type, width, aspect ratio, construction, RIM diameter, load index and speed rating. For more details see Tire Size Specifications (Tire Dimensions).

Commercial Tire ID

The Commercial Tire ID is an alphanumeric identifier that can only be found on tires of trucks, buses and trailers. For details see Commercial Tire ID.

How To Scan

The following examples show how to use the tire scanners. The accuracy and reliability of the scanner are influenced by the user. In order to obtain high accuracy, the user should check that:

  • All characters have to be placed within the cutout.
  • There are no other additional characters in the cutout, if possible.
  • The image should be in focus.
  • The phone is held almost parallel to the tire surface.

Moreover, the user can expect a reliable result if the characters are not faded, are not under strong light reflections and are not covered by dirt. The above situations are depicted in the following images:
